The fine weather at the start of June has given us the opportunity to make some FibreGold Haylage. Using our own contracting fleet we have sown, managed, cut, tedded, raked, baled and drawn this haylage back to base where it will now stay until it is fully preserved.
The reason why haylage is wrapped in plastic is because there is moisture present, by wrapping the bales in a plastic film the bales become fully airtight, this creates an anaerobic environment within the bale preserving its contents, if these bales weren’t wrapped they would begin to decay into a compost state serving no use as animal feed.
When our haylage is fully preserved we will test the quality of the bales, we will then make the haylage into more manageable sized bales as seen in our shop and internationally.
